Home Sweet Home :)

August 31, 2010

Yesterday I’ve arrived at home, in the lovely town of Lovech (The Lilacs Town). I’m on vacation for about two weeks. I don”t really know if that means that I’ll not blog during that time, blogging is usually kind of a vacation for me, but just in case I don’t now you know why:)

Lucky to be a woman TODAY :)

August 27, 2010

Yesterday was Women’s Equality Day and I didn’t have a chance to post this “on time”, but I still want to say it – I’m just so happy and lucky to be a woman TODAY, I enjoy so much freedom and I’m pretty satisfied with the treatment as an equal human being that I get.

I’m currently reading Women Who Kill, Ashwin recently posted Frames of Freedom: Freedom to Love and a lot of other little things reminded me lately how lucky I am to enjoy that much freedom in my womanhood and my existence in general. I would like to make it short and clear, so here is what I mean by “that much freedom”, that we take for granted most of the time, but a lot of people died fighting for it and that’s my way to say “thank you” to them:

Faded Beauty

August 22, 2010

Earlier this week on my way back of work I saw a little daisy, lonely on the lawn, looking a little bit old, all I could think of was about faded beauty, but it still looked kind of beautiful so I wanted to capture it and share it with you:

BU: National Senior Citizens Day

August 21, 2010

I’ve worked with seniors and now I’m working in a project trying to reform the elderly nursing education in Germany, the professor leading this project is almost a senior herself, so I’ve thought that I should post something on the topic, because today is a national senior citizens day 🙂

It’s simple – we should respect the elderly, treat them with kindness and as equal, even when it seems that they’re not capable of doing some stuff that are easy for us (like texting, surfing the net, remembering stuff or even going to the toilet on our own). And not because they’ve achieved something great while there were younger or because they’re really wise, because to be honest – not everyone is like that, but just because they’re human beings, who need validation and love.

Slap Me – I’m a Bad Blogger

August 18, 2010

Nezzo has asked us to write about why are we bad bloggers (and what are we going to do about it), if we think that we are, and I think I am, so here is why:

1. My Blog is becoming more and more personal, like a thoughts-diary, what I actually never intended (but needed apparently, after all I’m making it), so I intent to make 2 projects (more on that soon) separate from that apparently personal blog 🙂

2. My English is improving, but there’s still a lot to do about it, e.g. I’m still very shy about commenting on some good English blogs because of my language and I would like to finally get over that.

3. Somehow there’s a lot more photography here than psychology, it shouldn’t really be that way.

4. Lately I publish a lot of pointless posts, that’s not really good, I should stop it.

5. I’m pretty irregular with my blogging – a day with three posts, then a week with none… ? That’s not pretty, but actually since that will be my personal blog I can do it. Still I would like to stop it, I should get cleverer with the use of drafts 🙂

6. I’m not getting any “social media” like twitter, topbloglog, blogcatalog or stuff like it… A good blogger should get along with that crap.

7. I’m not communicating as much as I actually wanted and intended with bloggers that I like…

So now I’ll go work on these points. If you think that you’re a bad blogger too, take the badge and tell us why 🙂

ps. Nezzo has showed me an option to become a little better blogger, so I’m joining Bloggers Unite too 🙂

and a little slap-song:

Sweaty People

August 17, 2010

I really don’t get it – what’s the problem with sweating?

I’m from the sweaty people, especially for a girl I sweat a lot. I sweat when it’s hot, when I’m nervous, when it’s winter and I’m nervous, when I had a coffee, when I exercise, when I’m running, etc… (and I’m not fat, sweating is not just for overweight people, it’s for all people with normally functional perspiratory glands!).

Power, Forgiveness and Revenge – a Study

August 17, 2010

What are you more likely to choose- revenge or forgiveness, if you have more power than the other person?

I’ve always thought, that forgiving is what the stronger ones do. It takes a lot of self-confidence, maturity, feeling secure personally and confidence in your self-efficacy. Revenge is more like what you would do in defense, when you’re affected, when you feel threatened and just want to strike back, to show that you have that power. Forgiveness is what you do when you know, that you have that power, that you’re strong enough and don’t feel the need to prove it to someone anymore. That’s a big part of the growing-up process to me.

Gummy Koala Bears!

August 15, 2010

I love Interstate 60, if you haven’t seen it yet (almost impossible) watch it. I can recommend it at least because of this “theory”:

O.W. Grant: Every event is inevitable – if it wasn’t, it wouldn’t happen.”

So, is it?

Let’s see, that’s the classical non-falsifiable theory, like the most theories of Freud too. In order to proof it wrong, you’ll have to evade something, that already did happen or something. So yep, methodologically this theory is bullshit.

But otherwise you can “believe” it. It can be kind of relieving. It’s not like it doesn’t matter what you do, it does big time. It may be inevitable that you do it, but you still have to do it! Still once something is done, that’s it, it was inevitable, it’s past, done, move on, do some other inevitable stuff.

And don’t forget, that they may be black hearts and red spades and once you know that, you’re able to see them. So there could easily be another dimension, where all the evitable events happen and build one “evited” world  🙂

So what do you say  – is it inevitable that something happens, that we make that or this choice, that these choices are more or less just the results of all the inevitable events before them?
